Sony has introduced the PlayStation VR2 adapter will enable the operation of this virtual reality browser on personal computers. It will cost 60 euros/dollar, will transmit content via DisplayPort interface and will work on Valve’s SteamVR platform.
It was an open secret. Last February, Sony opened up the possibility of expanding the use of the headset from a PS5 console exclusivity to PC, and last week the inclusion of the organization in South Korea confirmed the near announcement that just happened. As most critics feared, it is a simple PC compatibility for those who already have a PS5 headset and not deploying a new product that would lead the viewer to other types of user groups.
In addition, key PS5 features such as HDR, headset feedback, eye tracking, adaptive triggers, haptic feedback (including rumble), They will not be available when playing on PC. Sony explains this because the PS VR2 was designed from the ground up specifically for the PS5. Additional high fidelity and sensory immersion features will be available, including 4K image (2000 x 2040 per eye), 110-degree field of view, finger touch detection, transparent display or 3D audio in supported games.
Another disappointment that already occurred when we expected a new portable console and found a mere peripheral that might interest PS5 owners, but nothing more? Well. Maybe we had different expectations. Today, Sony seems to live off adapters…
