A serious failure has occurred in the work of AI services ChatGPT, Claude, Twins and Bewilderment. Users complained about the lack of data services. Experts do not exclude that the reason for the second failure of ChatGPT in one day may be a large-scale cyber attack, which shows the vulnerability of the system to various problems.

The first reports of the new crash and ChatGPT unavailability started coming in around 5:30 p.m. Thousands of users of both the mobile app and web version of ChatGPT have complained about the lack of communication and response on the service. Around the same time, some users encountered problems using Google Gemini. Also, Claude from Anthropic stopped working.

As of 20:17, OpenAI confirmed that the issue with ChatGPT has been resolved and the service is available to users again. Claude and Perplexity AI were also restored at 20:30.

As The Verge reported, this is ChatGPT’s second large-scale failure in a day. And this is not the first problem in recent months. In November last year, the service was down for approximately 90 minutes, which also affected the OpenAI API. Later, the reason for this was called a DDoS attack. Also last month, ChatGPT’s search functions were down due to problems with Microsoft. Copilot service was also not available.

Experts believe today’s large-scale failure may be related to the sharp rise in popularity of ChatGPT and other AI models in recent months. Companies need to increase computing power to ensure services operate stably under load. Or maybe it’s another coordinated attack. An official statement is expected from company representatives.
