Oppo It is investing heavily in artificial intelligence (AI) to democratize access to next-generation smartphone features for millions of users. The company announced plans to integrate more than 100 generative AI features across its entire smartphone lineup and reach an estimated 50 million users by the end of 2024.

This ambitious goal is supported by the establishment of a dedicated artificial intelligence research center in Shenzhen. The center focuses on core AI capabilities such as image processing, computer vision and natural language processing. Oppo emphasizes its commitment to user privacy by promising not to use user data for training models and implementing robust data security measures.

The strategic partnership established with Google, Microsoft and MediaTek constitutes an important pillar of Oppo’s artificial intelligence strategy. Google’s Gemini family of large language models (LLM) will be integrated into Oppo’s flagship phones, enabling features such as AI Writer and AI Recording Summary. AI Writer offers content recommendations, grammar checks, and multilingual translation, while AI Recording Summary efficiently summarizes meetings and podcasts, highlighting key points.

Microsoft uses its expertise in converting voice and text. Oppo users will benefit from Microsoft Rapid Transcription for seamless voice transcription and enhanced voice assistant interaction with Neural TTS. Additionally, Oppo and Microsoft have also collaborated on Desktop Copilot, which allows users to create content, translate text, and search for information on their smartphones via a connected computer.

The collaboration with MediaTek focuses on hardware optimization. Chipsets with dedicated AI Processing Units (NPUs) are being developed to ensure smooth operation and efficient AI processing. Custom AI frameworks are also being created to leverage MediaTek’s strengths and add unique AI features to Oppo devices.

OPPO believes that the shift to AI phones is a long-term trend that will transform the mobile experience. The company envisions a future that paves the way for a complete AI phone ecosystem, with AI agents and intelligent operating systems equipped with multi-modal interaction.
