Google is buying Artificial intelligence. All you have to do is check out the tools it has deployed, such as the chatbot and assistant with Gemini, the curious ‘Search Circle’, among other utilities it showed off last year. Regardless of your goal, one of them that can become indispensable for students is NotebookLM, which we mentioned before.

It wasn’t available outside the US until now, but Google announced it’s coming to the rest of the world and we already tried that. A year later, with a perfect understanding of Spanish, it has become a powerful tool for making summaries of our documents, answering doubts and questions, and much more. If you are preparing for end-of-term exams, competitive exams or selection, it will not be wasted.

Google opens NotebookLM ban

Actually, NotebookLM is not new: It was announced last summer with limited stock. Now everything has changed and this “magic notebook” has been opened to everyone. As Google confirms, it’s an “AI-powered research and writing assistant” and is capable of generating all kinds of content from PDF files, documents, or just a web page.

Since it is based on the Gemini 1.5 Pro language model, its understanding of human language is almost perfect. What does NotebookLM do? The Mountain View firm boasts of having a tool to help us understand any material, whether summaries, documents, books, notes, or other types of text.

Once the material is loaded it will be turned into something. subject matter expert, the ability to suggest answers to specific questions, create indexes and summaries, and much more. It is also compatible with Google Slides (slides) and any website URL, accepts PDF and text files.

We tested NotebookLM: a work assistant without limits

When you open the tool from the official website it will ask us: Sign in with our Google account if we hadn’t. From there we will have it all in our hands.

The basis of using NotebookLM is to create a notebook: As we mentioned before, we can upload material from various sources. In the case of the presenter, I made use of the syllabus in PDF format that I obtained from the latest exams. Once installed, the app loads the document for a few seconds and becomes an expert from then on.

We chat below Gemini or ChatGPT styleWe can use it to ask questions or requests. We asked him some questions about the material, and he found the information accurate and conveyed it without any problems.

by touching «Notebook guide», which takes us to a section with the summary and different generation tasks: frequently asked questions and answers, study guide, table of contents (index), and even a timeline. These skills are not shown in chat, but in small notes added to the notebook.

A study guide is a noteworthy option. Create a note with an overview of the content, ask us a survey, or even send a glossary of important terms. NotebookLM focuses on students who find it easier to learn this way.
