Meta is working on a new AI tool for WhatsApp for Business that will have an AI assistant that can automatically answer frequently asked questions.
At Meta’s annual Conversations conference in Brazil, Mark Zuckerberg announced new updates to WhatsApp Business, including an AI assistant that can automatically answer common customer questions. It will take some time before we can use these new features in Belgium. The AI assistant for WhatsApp for Business is currently being tested with companies in India, Singapore and Brazil.
WhatsApp Business is how companies interact with customers every day: from discussing a product to completing a purchase to solving a problem. It will no longer surprise us that AI could also take over such tasks to save employees time, and that is what Meta is now proposing.
Meta is currently training AI to answer the most popular questions businesses receive on WhatsApp so they can help customers even faster. This AI assistant will initially be tested with businesses in India, Singapore and Brazil.
In addition, AI will be integrated to help companies create ads on Facebook and Instagram, for example to offer a discount or send an abandoned cart reminder. This feature is also still in the testing phase and will initially be available in English-speaking markets such as the US and Singapore.
The business version of WhatsApp is currently free, but includes some paid features. Meta acquired WhatsApp in 2014 for $19 billion and will generate an additional revenue stream with these new features.
