The teaser shows illuminated headlights connected by an LED strip and a glowing Volkswagen logo. The headlights resemble the updated units found on the new GTI, while previously released photos also show redesigned taillights with a similar design. Large openings in the front bumper cool the engine and give the Volkswagen Golf R 2025 an aggressive appearance. The car is equipped with a rear spoiler.
The cabin is expected to receive the same updates as the GTI, with a new display, updated infotainment system and physical buttons on the steering wheel instead of haptic touch controls as in the previous car.
Like the GTI, the Golf R could have extra power. The turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine now produces 315 hp. Unfortunately, Volkswagen has abandoned the manual transmission after the 2024 model year, and so the 2025 Golf R will only be offered with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
