In most apps that support stories, statuses and similar features, they are displayed as a ring in the profile picture of the person in question. Tapping the profile picture in question displays the story or status. They’re also highlighted that way in WhatsApp… but only if you’re in the status tab. Not for longer.
WaBetaInfo discovers WhatsApp will eventually abandon us open a contact’s status from the chat list, without having to open any additional tabs. This feature has been in development for WhatsApp Desktop for a while and now it’s also seen in the mobile app.
States at hand
Statuses came to WhatsApp a few years ago as a way to share updates on anything we want in the form of photos, videos or text. disappear after 24 hours to publish and in principle our links in the application are accessible.
States since its inception. Dropped into the States tab, although we have an open and active conversation with that person, we can’t see anyone posting a status from anywhere else. When starting a new chat, it is not displayed in that chat, chat list, or contact list. Now WhatsApp is trying to adopt a style similar to that found in almost all messaging apps.
As WaBetaInfo discovered, WhatsApp is planning an addition. green ring on profile photos of chats They have a situation ready to watch. Today, when you tap on the profile photo of one of our chats, that person’s profile is shown with shortcuts to open chat, call and video calls, but with this new feature we will open the status with one tap.
Nowadays, Similar apps like Facebook Messenger or Instagram -both from Meta- behave similarly and indicate that someone has shared a status on their profile picture.
This innovation will make it easier to find out who posted a status and being able to open without having to switch tabs and/or in case of many, scroll through all the states we expect to see. WaBetaInfo reports that the feature will arrive in all versions of WhatsApp soon, but only time will tell if it will be weeks or months.
