The introduction of the Motorola Razr 50 should not be overlooked. If we look at last year’s calendar, the Razr 40 was introduced on June 1, 2023, so if Lenovo decided to renew its foldable device annually for this generation, everything indicates that the wait should be measured in days or, at most, in a few weeks. What’s more, we actually expected it to be introduced already because, as we told you a few weeks ago, we saw it briefly appear in some European wholesalers.
Several renders were recently leaked that confirmed some interesting changes. And in terms of versions, the Motorola Razr 50 family is expected to consist of two members, the Motorola Razr 50 (referred to as Razr 2024 in some markets) and the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra (referred to as Razr+ 2024 in some places). The Razr 50 will be the standard model, while the Razr 50 Ultra will take over as the top of the line.
We hope that both models share the same main screen, built with a pOLED panel, with a display size of 6.9 inches (2,640 x 1,080 inches) and a refresh rate of 120 hertz. However, the difference will be in terms of its external screen, 3.63 inches for the standard model, which will increase to four with a pOLED panel for the ultra model. Quite a few rumors point to a significant increase in functionality (and therefore usefulness) of this screen.
Already on the inside, and although there are different versions in this sense, it is possible that the two models will equip different SoCs. It is specifically suggested Motorola Razr 50 will be equipped with MediaTek Dimensity 7300X, an SoC introduced very recently and which, as we have already told you, aims to be a very suitable choice for this foldable. It would be accompanied by up to eight gigabytes of RAM. Razr 50 Ultra would top the table sa Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 supplemented with up to 12 gigabytes of RAM.
Of course, there’s still no official word on pricing for either model when they hit the market, though it’s speculated that the standard model will be around 899 euroswhile the Ultra model would scale up to 1,199 euros. Now, and especially if it’s their starting prices, we can expect their prices to be revised down substantially over time. And if we visit the Motorola website, we can see that the two models of the current generation, the 40 series, which came to the market with the same ones that we expect for the Razr 50, are currently at 799 euros for the 40 Ultra and 499 euros for the Razr 40.
