Elon Musk, founder and CEO of SpaceX, shared his far-reaching plans and dreams for the future of cosmonautics on the X social network.
According to Musk, the fifth test flight of the Starship transport system will take place in about a month. This time, engineers will need to replace the heat shield tiles on the top of Starship. Also during this test, SpaceX will try to capture the booster with the tower shuttle.
The company plans to launch the first Starship from Florida in late 2025 (Starship is currently launching from SpaceX’s Starbase in Boca Chica, Texas).
One of the main tasks facing Starship is the ability to launch 200 tons of payload into orbit with full reusability.
Musk is confident that Starship will reach Mars within three years, and the flight to the Red Planet will take two to four months. A fleet of Starship ships will help create a self-sufficient human settlement on Mars, which is planned to be built in 20-30 years.
Among the new tasks facing the starship is reaching Uranus. “Reaching Uranus is not an easy task. But this is my dream,” Musk said.
