Joe Biden the US President said that he proud his son Hunter and that he will accept the sentence that he will receive after it is announced guilty on three counts of illegal acquisition and possession of weapons.
“I am a president, but also a father. Jill and I love our son and are very proud of the man he is today. (…) Nothing will change that,” he said in a written statement released by the White House.
A Delaware jury found Hunter guilty of three gun charges and of concealing his drug addiction during the purchase.
The charges, all at the federal level, are the maximum penalty is 25 years in prison.
The trial, in which Hunter did not testify, began last week and is the first case the son of a sitting president has faced in the United States.
Joe Biden then issued his first statement showing his support and in an interview with the network last Thursday. ABC News He ruled out using his powers to pardon him.
In a statement on Tuesday, he echoed the same sentiments.
“I will accept the outcome of this case and will continue to respect the legal process while Hunter considers his appeal.
“Jill and I have always been there for Hunter and the rest of our family with love and support,” he said.
