Gears of War: E-Day was one of the biggest and most exciting games that Microsoft showed off during this year’s Xbox Games Showcase. We knew he would use this title Unreal Engine 5 graphics enginebut until now we haven’t had specific technical details beyond this.
The Coalition, the game’s developer, has provided new details about Gears of War: E-Day, and the truth is, I was surprised. Thanks to the jump to Unreal Engine 5, the use Nanite to improve geometryas the game’s Xbox Series X-Series S and PC exclusivity increased the level of character and setting detail up to 100 times compared to what we saw in Gears 5.
This improvement in the level of detail is clearly visible in the presentation trailer, which, I remind you, does not use pre-rendered graphics, but shows a scene recreated by the game engine in real time. That said, this is the level of graphical quality we can expect in the game, and yes, it’s impressive.
Another important news that has been confirmed is that The Coalition will be using ray tracing applied to lighting, shadows and reflections in Gears of War: E-Day. It is very likely that ray tracing is finally exclusive to the PC versionbecause I don’t think the Xbox Series X will be able to push a game of this caliber with ray tracing applied to all these elements.
We still don’t have details on the requirements we need to meet in order to move Gears of War: E-Day, but it’s clear that they’ll be high and could be higher than the Unreal Engine 5-based games we’ve seen so far. Still, I hope The Coalition includes Support for NVIDIA DLSS 3.7, AMD FSR 3.1 and Intel XeSS improve performance.
Microsoft hasn’t given a release date, so we don’t know when Gears of War: E-Day will arrive. However, given the date we’re on and what little they showed during the event, I don’t think we’ll see that this year. It will most likely be launched sometime in 2025. It will be exclusive to Xbox Series X, Series S and PC, although some sources say that Microsoft will end this exclusivity sooner or later and that the Gears saga will come to PlayStation.
