Microsoft has removed the Windows 11 2024 update from the preview channel. The decision is temporary, but attracted attention due to unexpectedness and lack of prior notice. A look at the comment center and the number of issues reported, along with the Recall fiasco given the privacy nightmare it was in its current state, may give us some clues as to the decision.
Windows 11 2024 Update (Windows 11 24H2) is a very important release for Microsoft and the industry in general. It won’t be only will only release this year to include a general feature update, but will be in charge of deploying Copilot and everything that flows from AI features. Not to mention you’ll have to power the new Windows on ARM computers. Also, and no less relevant, it will spearhead an attempt to convince the hundreds of millions of users still using Windows 10 if the promised improvements come true and are big enough to migrate. Cold on the face at the moment…
At the end of May, Microsoft released Windows 11 24H2 in the “Preview” channel to give Insiders time to test it before it goes into beta and especially into the general channel next fall. And thank god… The Microsoft Feedback Center reveals a number of issues reported by testers.
Complaints range from app freezes and performance drops to VPN connection issues. Some users even took to social media to express their frustration. And especially the ARM version, which should be the star of Windows this year, if Microsoft definitely does not want to lose more users to Apple’s Macs. Criticism is sometimes harsh and some describe it as “disastrous and the worst preview I can remember”. The only positive thing is to think ‘that’s what tests are for’. But it is so Windows update error history is terrible and does not inspire optimism.
A recall fiasco, well defined as “privacy nightmare”, may also be behind the download version. Microsoft promised a turnaround, and the company’s developers may have seen more time needed to do so and for an internal release.

Microsoft didn’t provide much of an explanation and fixed the issue with a simple update to the release notes: “We are temporarily suspending the release of Windows 11, version 24H2 in the preview channel. We will resume the launch in the coming weeks »Brandon LeBlanc promised it.
We’ll have to wait. What was said; The Windows 11 2024 update (Windows 11 24H2) is a critical release, and it’s not good news in mid-June. But we insist: that’s what tests are for.
