Apple now allows you to sign in to iCloud in a virtualized macOS environment, something that was previously impossible. With this, the computer specialist opens the door to easier testing for developers who want to test their applications on different versions of macOS from one computer.
Unfortunately, real added value is still in the future. Currently, you need macOS 15 and the feature only works if you virtualize macOS 15 in it. In addition, you need to create a brand new macOS 15 VM. Upgrading from an older version of macOS is not allowed. Signing in to iCloud on an older version of macOS, for example to test the functionality, is also not possible.
Apple is taking a step towards virtualized functionality for iCloud and other services linked to an Apple ID. Presumably, the relevance of the new functionality will increase with the release of new macOS editions.
