To no one’s surprise, Opera One is now ready which is probably one of the most exciting moves in the Windows PC ecosystem we’ve seen in many years. I mean, of course, the arrival of the first Snapdragon-based devices from Qualcomm on the Windows world market.

I say no one is surprised, because on the one hand, the company already announced less than a month ago that it was working on it, and then also released the developer version. But aside from the fact that we knew it was on their roadmap, I’ll mention again what I pretty much always say about this browser (or, well, these browsers, since the company actually offers several versions), which is that If it has always stood out for something, that’s why since its beginnings its commitment to innovation.

It was innovative when it marked the debut of tabs in web browsers, it was innovative by being the first browser to include pop-up blocking as a feature, it pioneered speed dialing with the inclusion of a VPN service with the launch of a gamer-specific version, Opera GX, it pioneered the addition with artificial intelligence functions locally… The list is huge and everything points to the fact that it will continue to follow this path in the future..

Today, when the first Copilot+ computers started to hit the market a few days ago, Opera has released its version of Opera One for Windows 11 ARM, the version of the operating system for these computers. And they claim this native version of Opera for ARM will run more than twice as fast on Snapdragon-based Windows PCs.

Although Microsoft and Qualcomm bet very heavily on this new model, x86-64 emulation in Windows has always been a weak pointIn fact, Apple did much better by making the leap from Intel to Apple Silicon. Therefore, and although it can be expected to have improved substantially, the key to its success is that software developers are encouraged to build native versions of their applications for Windows 11 ARM. And in that sense, the fact that Opera One has already made the leap is undoubtedly good news for Microsoft and Qualcomm.
