Ryzen 9000 processors use a new architecture and a new manufacturing node, two important changes that allow them to offer higher performance and higher efficiency compared to the current generation. AMD has also managed to reduce the consumption of this new generation, reducing the TPD of the Ryzen 7 9700X and Ryzen 5 9600X to 65 watts.

It’s clear to me that AMD wanted to compensate for the TDP increase they introduced with the Ryzen 7000, and it’s evident that they knew how to use TSMC’s jump to the 4nm node to meet that goal.

David McAfee, AMD’s corporate vice president and general manager of the client business channel, commented on the topic that its 8-core processor, the Ryzen 7 9700X, It’s so good that they didn’t need a TDP higher than 65 watts to achieve your performance goals.

The CEO also emphasized that lower TDP not only translates into higher efficiency, but also implies lower temperatures. For the end user, this means that the Ryzen 7 9700X will run at much lower temperatures than the Ryzen 7 7700X, that it will be able to maintain higher operating speeds in turbo mode, and that You won’t need such a powerful cooling system.

As many of our readers are sure to know, there are several ways to improve CPU performance, and although it may seem strange at first, lowering the TDP can be one of them.
