WhatsApp announces new features for group video calls in a blog. For example, it is now possible to highlight a speaker who is giving a presentation during the call. The speaker is highlighted and appears in a larger field than the other participants in the group conversation, just like in a presentation via Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

You can now share your screen with audio during the presentation. This makes it possible to watch a video together with your conversation partners.
Finally, WhatsApp is also increasing the maximum number of participants for group conversations for the desktop apps. Just like on mobile, you can now have a group conversation with 32 people on the Windows and Mac versions. Previously, the number of participants was limited to 16 for Windows and eight for Mac.
Alternative to Zoom and Microsoft Teams
The update will be available to all users in the coming weeks. With these additions to WhatsApp group conversations, Meta wants to make the application more attractive for groups, especially for professional users. WhatsApp group conversations are a popular feature in the family sector, but for professional conversations we tend to resort to Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
Meta hopes to change that. It also recently introduced an AI assistant for the business version of WhatsApp.
