The rumors turned out to be true: A cult following after 17 years on the market Nissan R35 GT-R is leaving the North American market this October. In this context, Nissan is presenting two limited series that it had previously announced for Japan: Takumi and Skyline Specials.

GT-R T-Spec Takumi Edition It pays tribute to the “takumi” – the skilled craftsmen who hand-assemble the VR38DETT engine for each GT-R. It combines a Midnight Purple color reminiscent of Skyline/GT-R history with an exclusive Mori Green interior.

Fans should also appreciate the standard NISMO carbon ceramic brakes, gold-painted 20-inch NISMO RAYS forged wheels, NISMO-tuned Dynamic Vehicle Control, and wider front fenders.

The GT-R Skyline Edition is based on the GT-R Premium and combines Bayside Blue with a new Sora Blue interior. Prices start at $151,090 for the T-Spec Takumi Edition and $131,090 for the Skyline Edition. Both models are expected to arrive at Nissan dealers this summer, with fewer than 200 units available for U.S. buyers.

Nissan has repeatedly hinted at a successor that would be an electric car. The harbinger of this was the Hyper Force concept introduced at the 2023 Tokyo Auto Show. Nissan plans to introduce solid-state batteries by 2028, and the GT-R’s electric successor could arrive at least four years later.
