The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 will be a new version of the South Korean giant’s foldable clamshell phone and, along with its other foldable, the Fold6, will be the focus of the company’s next event, Summer Unpacked, on July 10, where we’ll also see the latest generation of its Watch smartwatches and his Buds headphones.
Samsung absolutely dominates the foldable mobile phone category with a market share exceeding 70%. If the “Fold” series opts for a large “book” format, the Flip series uses a clamshell type format, which makes it much more compact. Also cheaper due to the smaller screen size and hardware level.
Until Apple launches the long-awaited foldable iPhone, Samsung has few rivals in the Fold series. There is more competition for the Flip, notably the Motorola Razr, which will be updated to the 50 series in the coming weeks and will be its biggest rival.
Based on the leaks that have arrived so far, there will be three sections that Samsung will improve especially compared to the current Flip5, performance, cameras and autonomy.
To improve overall performance, Samsung uses Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Qualcomm’s most powerful mobile chipset for early 2024, which it already used a few months ago in its high-end terminals, the Galaxy S24. Exynos 2400 is also rumored for some regions. This would be the first time the company has used its own SoC in a foldable device. As for the RAM, it will be increased from 8 to 12 GB while the storage capacity will be maintained with 256 and 512 GB options.
Another improvement should come from a part that is always critical in mobile devices: autonomy. The new Flip will have a 4000 mAh batterya noticeable improvement compared to the previous model’s 3700 mAh, which, combined with the new power saving modes, should allow for longer usage times.
The third improved part would be the cameras. The main sensor of the new version would be 50MPanother big improvement over its 12MP predecessor.
From the rest of the main specifications, let’s mention the flexible Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen, which apparently will not change its size of 6.7 inches and native FHD+ resolution. Yes, it will get better external screen refresh rate at 120 Hz.
The sale price is rumored $1,100 and $1,220 for the two available configurations. Both will come pre-installed with Samsung’s latest interface, One UI 6.
