Logitech has announced the Keys-To-Go 2, a keyboard that takes portability to the extreme with its lightness, thinness and wireless connection.
Keys-To-Go 2 is the second version of the model that the peripheral manufacturer launched ten years ago and which it has retained thanks to minor revisions. The new version continues to maintain its concept ultra-portable wireless keyboard designed for mobile use, but its new features elevate it to a next-generation product.
While the original model had a square design (more like a toy), the new version looks like a traditional long, rectangular keyboard. It adds a folding cover that provides protection during transport and allows the writing angle to be raised slightly.
Its dimensions remain compact, with Length 250mm, width 105mm and width 8.77mm total thickness, which is reduced to a minimum of 4.57 mm when the protective cover is placed in a horizontal position. This case is not strong enough to serve as a support for a mobile phone or tablet, as the priority is light weight and thinness for ease of transport, as Logitech executives state in the announcement:
“In today’s fast-paced world, it’s important to stay productive on the go, and this keyboard is designed to allow users to carry less and do more from anywhere.”.
Note that the keyboard uses a coin cell battery to achieve its compact size. These batteries are user replaceable and are said to last up to 36 consecutive monthsbut perhaps some users would prefer some type of additional charging like the original model’s micro USB port.
The keyboard is compatible with all desktop and mobile operating systems and connects using the wireless standard Bluetooth LE (low consumption) on up to three devices simultaneously. Users can easily switch devices using keys Easy-Switchwhich increases productivity across platforms.
The keyboard and packaging are partially made from recycled plastic materials, and the top case is made from aluminum using renewable energy to minimize its carbon footprint. It will be available in three colors, lilac, light gray and graphite, and in two versions with a universal keyboard and an Apple-specific one that uses the typical Mac keyboard layout. It will be available at the end of June on Logitech’s website and retail channel 79.99 euros/dollar.
