Samsung has announced the global launch of the Galaxy Book4 Edge It is its first notebook on Microsoft’s Copilot+ PC platform and also the first to hit the market as it is available today in Europe, South Korea and the United States.

A good starting point to check the viability of a new attempt at Windows on ARM (and competition with Apple) and everything to come as more manufacturers will launch devices for this platform (ASUS, Lenovo, HP, Acer…). And the same Microsoft with the new Surface.

The Galaxy Book4 Edge is exactly what we told you. Samsung offers two versions depending on the screen size, 14 or 16 inch diagonal with quality Dynamic AMOLED 2X panels.

Both are equipped with processors Snapdragon X Elite, with two options to choose from, between the X1E-80-100 (3.4GHz) or the XTE 84-100 (3.8GHz), along with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. All X Elite SoCs feature the same 45 TOPS Neural Processing Unit (NPU) to accelerate AI tasks.

To say that this is all wrapped up in va aluminum chassis thin and light, a hallmark of Samsung notebooks. They have USB Type-C ports, an HDMI output, a headphone jack, a microSD card reader, a webcam and a numeric keypad on the top model. They will also have the ability to support 5G broadband networks. Autonomy is increased, one of the advantages of the ARM architecture until 10 p.m for video playback on these devices.

Samsung claims to have bridged the gap between computers and mobile devices, allowing access to popular features of its ecosystem Galaxy A.I which will premiere on its flagship S24 mobile phones with major features such as the new feature Link to Windowswhich allows users to seamlessly perform everyday actions such as retrieving contacts or sending messages on the phone in natural language through the voice commands of the Copilot assistant.

Of course, the laptops run Windows 11, although the level of AI features added after the Recall fiasco remains to be seen. Also, the performance of Qualcomm processors and the ability of Windows to run x86 applications on the ARM platform. Galaxy Book4 Edge have a base price $1,349 (14″ version) and $1,449 (16″ version). Quite high prices (as we feared) for a new platform that has a lot to prove.
