Just a few days ago we saw the first independent performance tests with Snapdragon This raised doubts and it was logical, because the differences in performance showed the first unbiased results they were very big compared to the numbers reported by Qualcomm.

These tests only focused on CPU performance, meaning we had no idea What the Adreno X1 GPU will be capable of which integrates the Snapdragon X Elite. The first independent reviews have already started to come out, so we can finally get an idea of what this chip has to offer in some of the most popular games today.

I confirm this before I continue our analysis will be completed next week, because in a day or two we will receive a Snapdragon X Elite-equipped ultraportable. As always, I’ll be focusing my tests on as big a battery as usual so you can see the full potential of the Snapdragon X Elite.

Coming back to performance, the new Qualcomm chip is capable of running Cyberpunk 2077 at 34 FPS, Baldur’s Gate 3 at 35 FPS, Overwatch 2 at 83 FPS, Palworld at 39 FPS and Helldivers 2 at 41 FPS. All these games were set to 1080p resolution and low quality. These are the numbers that remain in the aggregate well below the Radeon 780M.

The worst thing about things, however, is not so much the performance the problems it presents at the emulation level, because some games that were tested in various analyzes simply did not work, and others did not allow changing the resolution to fit the screen properly. Performance and stability in games is one of the big unsolved problems of this chip.

Personally, and analyzing the cold data, I believe that it is not as bad as it is painted, and that Qualcomm he made a serious mistake by creating inflated expectations with Snapdragon These expectations are not met, and this is exactly what leaves a bad taste in the mouths of everyone who had the opportunity to try this new SoC. If Qualcomm had kept a lower profile, these early ratings would have been very different.

On the plus side, these first analyzes highlight what this chip has to offer a pretty competitive performance overall compared to alternative solutions from Intel and AMD, and in terms of autonomy it offers important improvements compared to x86-x64 chips from both companies.
