Greater productivity and value with Acrobat AI Assistant

When you’re doing research, studying for an exam, analyzing data, or reviewing meeting notes, information rarely resides in a single document or file type. Acrobat’s new AI Assistant features remove barriers and allow anyone to quickly and easily retrieve information, format and share content in documents. New features include:

Information through documents
From quick responses to in-depth investigations, users can now identify key themes, trends and relationships from a pool of documents they select, and synthesize and format information from multiple sources into compelling content.

How can a marketer researching ways to reach Gen Z customers with information in a group of PDF, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint documents take advantage of these options? For example, you can drag these documents into Acrobat’s AI Assistant, which will quickly generate suggested questions such as “Provide an overview of the key topics covered in these documents.”

The specialist could also ask questions of their own, such as “What are Generation Z’s social media habits?” AI Assistant will generate answers based on information in a group of documents and includes intelligent citations, allowing a specialist to easily verify the source of an answer or quickly jump to a specific location for deeper investigation.

The specialist may also request that the information be formatted into engaging content for a specific purpose. For example: “Turn key points from these documents into an email” that you can easily share with your wider team to inform them about your marketing campaign.

Building trust in AI

According to Adobe, the company does not train its generative AI models with data from its customers. Adobe’s AI features, including Firefly and Acrobat AI Assistant, are developed in accordance with Adobe’s AI ethical principles of accountability, responsibility and transparency.

Adobe Firefly is trained on licensed content, including moderated content from Adobe Stock and public domain images that have expired copyright and are designed to be commercially safe. To ensure transparency around the use of generative AI in the creative process, content credentials are automatically attached to digital content created or edited using Firefly-based features in Adobe Acrobat, a digital nutrition label that builds audience trust.

Adobe has created standardized processes from design to development and deployment, including testing, evaluation, and a review process overseen by a diverse AI Ethics Commission, so customers can use features with confidence. These include:

  • Data security protocols: AI Assistant features in Reader and Acrobat are governed by data security protocols, including testing and evaluation methods in engineering and pre- and post-processing processes.
  • Improved reliability: Adobe complements Large Language Model (LLM) technologies with the same artificial intelligence and machine learning models behind the award-winning Liquid Mode to provide a highly accurate understanding of document structure and content, improving the quality and reliability of Acrobat AI Assistant outputs.
  • Guards for LLM: Adobe takes an agnostic approach when working with third-party LLMs, selecting best-in-class technologies that address a variety of customer use cases. Adobe contractually requires them to use confidentiality and security protocols that meet Adobe’s own standards, and prohibits third-party LLMs from manually inspecting or training Adobe customer data.
  • Simple AI data management: Acrobat AI Assistant keeps companies in control of their information, providing information based on user-provided documents rather than enterprise-wide information, helping to protect against the analysis and use of other types of data for unrelated purposes.
  • Keep people in the loop: Acrobat AI Assistant includes attribution in generated responses, making it easy for employees to confirm where information came from; an in-app message will remind them to check the source of the answers provided by the AI assistant.
  • Shared responsibility: The generative AI output of the AI assistant in Reader and Acrobat relies heavily on the documents provided by the users themselves. When users use Acrobat AI Assistant, they agree to use the features responsibly.
