A few months ago, Motorola introduced its new designs of TWS headphones, Motorola Moto Buds and Moto Buds+, the latter in collaboration with Bose, which we had the opportunity to test. We will tell you a little more about them.

Moto Buds+ are earphones designed to offer a superior audio experience, combining advanced active noise cancellation technology, high-definition sound quality and seamless integration with the Motorola ecosystem (a double-edged sword).

One of the most striking aspects of the Moto Buds+ that catches your eye as soon as you open the box is its meticulous and elegant design. They have a chrome finish that has the advantage of not leaving marks, not even fingerprints, which is appreciated. They are available in two colors, Forest Gray and Beach Sand, a choice that seems to be deliberate to distinguish that this is the older brother in their headphones and that they chose more “premium” colors to distinguish them from the Buds. Personally, I miss the more cheerful color given that there are more available with the younger brother and the quality of the device does not have to conflict with the color. But that is a very small and personal detail.
Leaving aside the design, it is important to point out the practicality of the Moto Buds+ in everyday use, and the ergonomics is one of its strong points. They are designed to be super ergonomic and provide a comfortable and secure fit that is essential for long-term use. In my case, it’s quite common for long-term use of these types of headphones to bother me and even give me a headache from the pressure in the ear, but this is not the case. I can say that these are some of the most comfortable and lightest headphones I have ever used.
Sound quality
But let’s get to what’s really important about headphones, i.e. the sound. The collaboration with Bose is clearly reflected in the sound quality of the Moto Buds+. They are equipped with dual dynamic drivers and high-resolution audio technology, resulting in clear sound with deep bass and a wide dynamic range.
In addition, Moto Buds+ support Dolby Atmos and Dolby Head Tracking, enabling a multi-dimensional audio experience. This Dolby head tracking technology recalibrates sound based on head movement to provide a more natural and immersive audio experience. However, here comes one of the buts we mentioned about the multimedia ecosystem, which is that Dolby Head Tracking is only available for Motorola phones, so in my case, I just have to enjoy it.
Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) technology is another strong point of the Moto Buds+. We can choose between different noise cancellation modes, including an adaptive mode that automatically adjusts the level of noise cancellation depending on the environment. Thus, we can enjoy an optimal listening experience regardless of the environment we are in, whether it is a noisy means of transport, an office, etc. They also have a transparency mode that allows you to hear more of the surrounding sound while isolating harmful sounds. This feature is especially useful in situations where you can’t isolate yourself as much, such as walking around town. For practical purposes,
With the Moto Buds app available for any Android device, users can easily customize the controls, adjust the noise canceling settings and of course balance the sound based on what you’re listening to or your personal taste.
In terms of battery life, the Moto Buds+ offer up to 8 hours of playback on a single charge with ANC turned off, and the charging case provides up to 38 hours more. In addition, they support wireless charging, eliminating the need for cables and simplifying the charging process, and we can even charge them with our own phone (if it has this feature). The charging time will depend on the option selected. For traditional charging with a USB-C cable, we will need approximately one hour to fully charge, a time that practically doubles if we opt for wireless charging.
The Moto Buds+ design is not only attractive, as we mentioned at the beginning, but also practical, light and durable. It has an IP54 rating that guarantees resistance to splashes such as sweat or rain, making them suitable for outdoor activities and situations where they may be exposed to light water.
Conclusions
Moto Buds+ are TWS headphones that are characterized by careful design, comfort, ergonomics and great sound quality. The collaboration with Bose and the integration of advanced technologies such as Dolby Atmos provide a superior and personalized sound experience. The active noise cancellation works perfectly and they also have extras like wireless charging, which is always a plus.
However, its price of 149 euros may be a barrier for some, especially when there are cheaper alternatives with comparable specifications in the competitive market of TWS headphones. Additionally, the dependence of certain advanced features, such as Dolby Head Tracking, on a compatible Motorola device may limit its appeal to users of other brands. It is up to each user to assess their priorities.
Despite this, I think they are really good headphones, as comfortable as any I can remember, with remarkable sound quality and noise cancellation, and a very careful and durable design of both the headphones themselves and the case. They are definitely an option to consider.
The Motorola Moto Buds+ are available in two colors (Forest Gray and Beach Sand) for €149 on Motorola’s website and retail channels such as Amazon.
