Only about 50 people kidnapped by Hamas are still alive, US officials told the WSJ

There are about 50 hostages in total of the approximately 250 people abducted by Hamas in Israel on October 7 still alive, US officials told the newspaper Wall Street Magazine.

The data was proposed by mediators in hostage negotiations and a US official familiar with the intelligence, the newspaper reported this Thursday.

The newspaper recalls that of the approximately 250 people abducted as a result of the Hamas attack on Israeli territory, 116 remain in captivity, but this figure also includes those considered dead.

Israel has officially confirmed that of the 116 abducted 43 people are dead.

Until now they were seven hostages rescued alive by Israeli army and another 109 were released on humanitarian grounds or exchanged for Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons during the truce last November.

During the terrorist attacks on October 7 last year also killed about 1200 people, many of them attend a music festival held in southern Israel.
