The US Congress is preparing a bill that would make 30 B-52H Stratofortress bombers part of the nuclear triad again. More than 10 years ago these aircraft were modified as part of the Strategic Offensive Arms Reduction and Limitation Treaty (SNO-III), since then they could only carry non-nuclear ammunition.

Critics of the bill think that extending the life of the B-52 bomber fleet, which entered service during the Cold War, will bring great costs and turn into a new expense item.
