Pure Storage has added new AI-related features to its platform. A deeper collaboration with Nvidia is also on the agenda.

At Pure//Accelerate in Las Vegas, Pure Storage announced several new features for its platform. The focus of the announcements is – how could it be otherwise – on AI.

  • Storage automation with Pure Fusion: This feature unifies arrays and optimizes storage pools for structured and unstructured data, both on-premises and in the cloud. Pure Fusion is now fully integrated into the Purity operating environment, which Pure Storage continues to enhance through upgrades.
  • Generative AI copilot for storage: Pure Storage says this is the first AI storage management assistant that uses data insights to help storage teams resolve performance and management issues and prevent security incidents. Copilot uses historical data and insights from Pure Storage and customers to help teams resolve performance issues and prevent security incidents.

Data as the basis for AI

Pure Storage frames the innovations with a study that opens the door to them. Our own research among 1,500 CIOs and decision makers shows that 98 percent of respondents believe their data infrastructure needs to be improved to support AI initiatives. Since data is the foundation of all AI projects, this is a correct conclusion. To support AI projects, Pure Storage announces the following innovations:

  • Evergreen//One for AI: This is an AI storage service that offers guaranteed performance for GPUs, which is important for training, inference, and HPC workloads. The new SLA model eliminates the need for complex scheduling or over-purchasing, as performance is based on dynamic requirements.
  • Safe application work areas: With Kubernetes container management, secure multi-tenancy, and policy management, organizations can achieve advanced data integrations between their critical data and AI clusters without compromising security.

Collaboration with NVIDIA

Anyone who doesn’t get a seal of approval from Jensen Huang might as well pack it up today, or so it seems, so Pure Storage is also vying for the blessing of the Nvidia CEO. Pure Storage expects to be certified as a storage solution for the NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD by the end of 2024.

This partnership builds on previous certifications and validations with NVIDIA and helps enterprises accelerate their AI initiatives. Pure Storage’s Ethernet-based storage solution simplifies the integration and deployment of large-scale AI training and inference.
