Microsoft shares the requirements for Wifi 7 compatibility in Windows 11. The upcoming Windows 11 24H2 seems to be necessary to support Wifi 7.

Wifi 7 is impatiently knocking on the door. With the upcoming Windows 11 24H2 update, Microsoft wants to open the door wide to the latest network standard. According to a technical support article from Microsoft, Windows 24H2 could also be the only version with WiFi 7 compatibility.

In the blog, Microsoft shares the shopping list for WiFi 7 in Windows. There are no shocking things in it: in addition to a Windows 11 PC, you also have a router and a network adapter that comply with the WiFi 7 standard. The first WiFi 7 routers were announced at the CES exhibition earlier this year.

With a small footnote, Microsoft seems to clarify that Wifi 7 will only be available if you run the Windows 11 24H2 update. Previously, it was announced that Windows 10 is not compatible with WiFi 7 because it does not support the 6 GHz band. Older Windows 11 versions usually do not have this limitation.
