Since Enlace Móvil was created based on the previous Tu Telephone, Microsoft has done a great job to improve the connection between Windows and mobile devices. It is true, yes, the integration with Android is much more advanced than with iOS, but even in the absence of official information about this, I have the impression from the beginning that it is more related to Apple’s policy with its operating system. than Microsoft’s interests and intentions in this regard.

Currently, iOS users can use Mobile Link to access phone and short message (SMS) features, but The Android experience is much more completeas it also provides access to images, notifications, extracting text from images, soon to use the smartphone camera as a webcam… as I said, the list is quite extensive.

Microsoft’s stated goal is to do so we can manage our smartphone practically comprehensively from Windows whenever we sit at the PC. It is clear that this is a very ambitious goal, which could also evolve significantly if the WSA undergoes a different evolution. However, despite this setback, the plan seems to be developing perfectly and what is to come will represent another very important leap.

Windows 11 adds Mobile Link to the Start menu

The new thing is the integration of Mobile Link in the Windows 11 Start menu, as you can see in the image above this paragraph. And we are not talking about a rumor or a leak, but about a feature that Microsoft has already begun to release among the insiders of the Windows 11 Beta channel, and yes, as initially expected, it is only available to connect with Android . Although in the official publication they confirm that it will also be available for iOS users later.

This move looks like a response (somewhat timidly, yes) to iPhone Mirroring, one of the most interesting innovations that Apple announced at WWDC 2024, which provides complete control of a smartphone (iPhone only, of course) from macOS, giving the Continuity proposal a qualitative leap. The fact that Link Móvil now brings the main linking functions to the Start menu is a very important development, although there is no doubt that after seeing iPhone Mirroring, you can’t help but expect a similar function to arrive sooner or later in Windows for Android smartphone users.
