Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the phase of intense fighting against Hamas on the Strip A loop it’s coming to an endbut the war will not end until the Islamist group no longer controls the Palestinian enclave.

After fierce fighting in A loopNetanyahu said Israel would be able to deploy more forces along its northern border with Lebanon, where fighting with Iran-backed Hezbollah has intensified.

Netanyahu made the announcement in an interview with Israel’s Channel 14.

Asked when the phase of violent fighting against Hamas would end, Netanyahu replied: “Very soon.”

However, he clarified that the army will continue to operate in A loop.

“I don’t want to end the war and leave Hamas as it is.”

Netanyahu also reiterated his opposition to the idea of a Palestinian Authority based in the West Bank, decreeing A loop instead of Hamas.

On the other hand, he reproached Benjamin Gantz for leaving the war cabinet: “Gantz and Eisenkot did something that should not have been done. They left the government during the war on seven fronts. This is something you shouldn’t do.”

Also at the political level, Netanyahu commented on the refusal of some reservists to join the ranks in protest against judicial reform before the October 7 terrorist attack. The president called the gesture a “catastrophe” that he blamed on the “left.”

He considered that these protests were “an important factor” in connection with the terrorist attack on October 7, “but not the main factor.”

Netanyahu defended the continuity of his right-wing and far-right governments because the alternative is a “left-wing coalition” that would “create a Palestinian state.” (Europe Press and Reuters).
