What was given is over. As expected, Google has disabled the VPN included with the Google One subscription. Google One VPN is no longer available and if you want a VPN and don’t have a Google Pixel 7 or Pixel 8, you’ll need to use another one.
Google One VPN thus joins the Google graveyard. It was later rolled out as a Google One feature exclusive to Pixels, reaching all subscribers. Now it’s disappearingbut it remains available – under another name – for those with the latest Google Pixel.
From all-in-one subscription to one-for-one subscription
Google One is the name given to a Google subscription whose main advantage is: extra storage for your account Google’s. But Google’s addition of extra benefits suggests that the company plans to turn this into an all-in-one subscription in exchange for paying more for those who want more.
Thus, additional advantages such as Google Photos filters or VPN also appeared; Contact Google technical support or monitoring the dark web to see if our personal data has been leaked. It looks like Google will slowly add more things to Google One but still removes them.
VPN is already gone and Dark web monitoring will end next month. The good news is that this feature will no longer be a Google One exclusive and will be available to all users with a Google account in the About You Results section. This will happen at the end of July. Previously, the “Talk to a Google Expert” benefit was disappearing.
Ultimately, what could become an all-in-one Google subscription is subscription for one thing only: storage. Everything else is offered to more users or kept private for those with home phones.
