A few days ago, OpenAI made its first acquisition with the acquisition of Rockset. It wanted more, so the GPT specialist is now buying Multi. This is also a start-up. Multi is creating a collaboration platform with a focus on video, based on Zoom.
OpenAI wants to focus on enterprise applications. The acquisition of Multi can be seen in this context, although it is not immediately clear how OpenAI plans to combine Multi’s platform with its ChatGPT tool. There is a possibility that the company wants to evolve ChatGPT towards an enterprise-scale platform solution.
Techcrunch has learned from an anonymous source that OpenAI is particularly interested in Multi’s talent. Five people from the modest team will join OpenAI after the acquisition.
Multi customer? Bad luck. The platform is being removed. Registration is no longer possible and active teams have until July 24th to find an alternative. Multi will then delete all user data. Customers can contact Multi for help in finding an alternative, but they don’t have much time to do so. If absolutely necessary, Multi will extend the period of use of Multi by one month upon request.
