This message, which your friends must copy, write the name and forward, is one of the few ways to organize things in a WhatsApp group, besides polls. Because polls are something else: Friends who didn’t vote, people who voted twice, people who made mistakes… Well, it’s over. Organizing things on WhatsApp will now be easier, thanks to its new function: events.

Events? This is the name of the new option that WhatsApp announced in its official X profile and that has already started to reach all users. Its operation is quite similar to Google Calendar events and, in short, allows you to configure an event to which your friends can or cannot register.

how does it work. Events are available in the file attachment menu, which is the same window we use to send photos or videos. We can create the event by clicking on the calendar-shaped icon. It should be given a name, description, date, time, and location if we want (this does not autocomplete, instead it allows us to enter anything we want, such as “Fernando’s House”). The event will be posted in the chat and attendees will only need to confirm their attendance. The event creator RSVPs by default.

Virtual meetings. Not only is it possible to organize an event for a physical meeting, but we can also configure a virtual meeting room that you can join via video call or voice call. This will create a link (that we can copy) that we need to click to join our other friends. For example, let’s think of meeting this Sunday via video call to discuss the latest episode of ‘One Piece’.

Currently in distribution. WhatsApp has announced that this feature is available worldwide and has already started rolling out to all users. However, as always, it may take some time to arrive.
