NOr shall I say Excel is the best thing Microsoft has ever done?, because I really think that the position corresponds to Microsoft Flight Simulator, not that it is perfect, because over the years we have learned about some problems related to its use, such as the one that affected the scientific community (which, yes, was in repaired as far as possible at the end of last year). What I can confirm, and emphatically, is that it is an excellent tool (excel, excellent… sorry for the predictable pun) and that it can be used to calculate budgets as well as play games due to its many features and tools on an RPG based on Fallout.

The main problem Microsoft’s spreadsheet faces when it comes to “making friends” is that Its interface is not particularly sexy. At the top, a toolbar and an endless grid of rows and columns that give rise to a monstrous number of cells waiting for you to type something into them. And when I say a monstrous amount, I’m not exaggerating because, trivia question, do you know how many cells an Excel sheet can have?

  • An Excel sheet can have up to 1,048,576 linewith.
  • An Excel sheet can have up to 16,384 columns.
  • The maximum number of cells in a sheet is given by multiplying the maximum number of rows by the columns, which tells us that an Excel sheet can have up to 17,179,869,184 cells.

That said, it can be a little intimidating, especially for those who suffer from blank page blocking. However, The most common problem is not what data to enter, but how to do it, especially if we want the document to simultaneously collect data, work with it, and also represent it. And it is in this sense that a small change can make a big difference.

We thought Excel couldn't get any better, we were wrong

The news, as we can read about it in the official publication, is that Excel now allows you to insert checkboxes into tables. Actually, this is not completely new, as this and other types of controls have been used before, but until now checkboxes could only be introduced through the development tools, while now we will only have to select the cell in which we want to include it, go to Insert tab and click “Checkbox”. This way the control will be added automatically.

As you probably already imagined, when we add a checkbox to an Excel cell, its value will be “False” if the box is not checked, or “True” if we selected it.. And of course this allows us to use it normally in our recipes without having to treat it in any special way.
