Sound or more precisely high quality sound is the business card of Cambridge Audio, a British manufacturer with more than 50 years of experience in the design and construction of audio products. One of the newest additions to his catalog are Melody 1+wireless in-ear headphones that promise to be our best companions.
This is the evolution of Melomania 1, which we had the opportunity to break down and which left us feeling very good. Now it’s time to see how they’ve improved an already remarkable model. Here we are.

The first thing we find when opening the box, which retains the elegant and simple line we already knew, are the headphones themselves and the charging case. In addition, they contain the usual charging cable and two packs of spare pads 3 different sizesso you can find the one that suits you best.
In my case, I prefer a small size (S), but if medium (M) or large (L) is ideal for you, you will be able to use an extra type of memory foam pad (memory foam), different from the original silicone, which is available available in these two sizes only and which adapts to maintain the shape of the ear canal.
This optimal fit in the ear translates into adequate noise isolation, which is a very important aspect for the best possible sound quality. The headphones are also equipped with IPX5 splash protection, making them waterproof.
While it is true that the pads, especially those made of memory foam, adapt perfectly, small ears like mine lack a typical arm or fin that helps the headphones stay in place as we walk down the street. or even if we choose to use them to play sports. When any activity that involves any movement prolongs, in my experience, it is almost inevitable that one of the headphones will eventually fire.
Very positive is the small dimensions of the case, which is light, compact and with a simple but elegant design. Despite this, and as we will discuss later, in addition to the headphone battery, it provides us with 4 charges with up to 36 hours of autonomy.
It’s all about headphones with a bullet design and touch control buttons, which is a decision I still don’t quite understand. I understand that tactile control will be related to the design of the headset itself, but after trying other types of devices, touch control is really lacking. Not for convenience or other more personal preferences, but for the usability of the device itself. When you use them and have to press one of the buttons, it’s a bit difficult because it’s not a very stable surface.
The control is simple and we can handle volume, skip tracks, play or pause, voice commands and calls. What we are used to with this type of device, intuitive. They are also compatible with voice assistants such as Google Assistant and Siri, with whom we can use voice commands.
Bluetooth pairing and autonomy
The autonomy that Melomania 1+ offers is more than remarkable, with up to 9 hours of continuous playback on a single charge (in low power mode) adding to the 4 additional charges provided by the case, we find ourselves ahead of a total of 45 hours of autonomy. Relatively longer than this type of equipment usually provides us, and this undoubtedly puts Melomania 1+ in a privileged position.
The experience of pairing them with an Android device was easy. It should be noted that when searching for a bluetooth device, two different ones appear, Melomania 1+ R and Melomania 1+ L (Left, leave Y Right) and only one connected will be displayed, but both headphones will work perfectly. However, trying to connect them to another device, including Android, which was already paired with other headphones, made the experience a bit more complicated. This has been fixed by following the instructions in the application, deleting previously paired (but not connected) headphones and restarting the Bluetooth search (by pressing one of the headphones for a few seconds until the light flashes blue).
If we want to get the most out of Melomania 1+, we highly recommend downloading the Cambridge Audio Melomania app, which will give you access to different preset equalizers depending on the genre we listen to or our preferences. You can even create and save your own custom settings.
In addition to choosing between high or low power mode (which changes the sound experience and therefore affects battery life), enable or disable touch controls and even look for them in the app if lost.
sound quality Melody 1+
The sound quality is, as we have already mentioned, a characteristic feature of Cambridge Audio and Melomania 1+ will not be lower. The headphones are equipped with specially designed 5.8mm improved graphene converters, which is a material that translates into excellent dynamic response. It should also be noted that they have noise isolation and low latency.
After the adjustment, thanks to the Melomania application, we will encounter headphones with good sound, partly due to the noise isolation we mentioned earlier, but which may lack more detail or bass and treble, which provide a clearer sound. A detail that may go unnoticed, but that needs to be noted at the Cambridge Audio level.
For telephony (because not everything is music for Melomania1 +) they have Clear Voice Capture (cVc) technology from Qualcomm, which provides clear sound.
Melomania 1+: conclusions
Melomania 1+ headphones offer a good balance between sound quality, autonomy and a small and manageable case. Using the application, we can also balance the sound and adapt it to our preferences or the style we listen to. They are available in two colors: black and white and can be found at the official Cambridge Audio store for a price from 79.95 €. In addition, accessories such as silicone case covers or other pad packs are available, both silicone and memory foams.
