Mark Gurman reports that Apple has begun working on software updates for next year for iOS 19, macOS 16, watchOS 12, and VisionOS 3. Bloomberg. Gurman said in the latest Power On newsletter that Apple has officially begun developing its main operating systems, codenamed “Luck” for iOS 19, “Cheer” for macOS 16, “Nepali” for watchOS 12, and “Discovery” for ‌visionOS‌, by 2025.

While iOS 18, macOS 15 Sequoia, watchOS 11, and VisionOS 2 haven’t yet been released to the public, work on the next major software updates for Apple’s major devices is set to begin. Part of the reason for this is that hardware products scheduled to be released next year will require software for testing, but it’s too early to know what features the new operating systems will offer.

Gurman also said the Vision Pro headset should get Apple Intelligence as early as next year, so it could make sense for ‌visionOS‌ 3. Meanwhile, public beta versions of ‌iOS 18‌, macOS 15 Sequoia, ‌watchOS 11‌ and ‌visionOS 2‌ are also expected to arrive after this. a month before the official release in the fall.
