Five years after Vivaldi appeared on the scene and almost two since the launch of the previous version of Vivaldi Mail, Vivaldi Technologies is pleased with what has been achieved and announces the first round and a stable version email client, calendar and message readeralthough looking back (we gave a good overview of the suite in the previous link) things haven’t changed much.

The theme of the calendar seems to have been left in a kind of secondary space, but everything shared on Vivaldi Mail is shared with the Vivaldi calendar, if not the best. Yes, yes: Vivaldi’s calendar, or Vivaldi’s calendar is one of the most complete applications in its category which I have never had the opportunity to try, and therefore the conclusion is equally shared with the previous one: even without the use of Vivaldi it can be considered a standalone application.

I repeat what I said almost two years ago, Vivaldi Calendar contains almost everything you could request in a calendar application: year, month, week, day and agenda view; date and time options, recurring appointments, by location, description and URL, task mode with boxes, private or shared calendars, with support for its local use without data transfer to any page, but also with the ability to add external calendars via standard protocol (CalDAV ).

However, in this case… Let’s say Vivaldi Feeds is, at least for now, the weakest component of all three by far.

It may be suitable for the most basic user, but there is very little when you request it. So much so that it doesn’t even allow you to create folders or labels to organize your resources. Well, yes, you can mess with filters by using email client tags to integrate in a somewhat undesirable way, but in reality it’s one of its worst aspects: the same number of unread emails includes unread articles and it’s chaos.

If you add to that, it allows you to import resources via OPML, but it is not possible to delete them as a whole … Feeds still has a few boils, not to reach the level of the two previous applications, but to consider it every least demanding user. We’ll give you time.
