Computer gamer and web designer Carlo Akutis is expected to be beatified in 2025, the publication reported. Vatican NewsNext year, Pope Francis I is expected to beatify British-born Italian programmer Carlo Akutis, who died of leukemia in 2006 at the age of 15.

Throughout his life, Akutis helped the poor and homeless, served in the temple, and would become a priest. He created a site to document Eucharistic miracles around the world, eventually cataloging more than 150 miracles.

The reason for the canonization of Acutis was two miracles recognized by the Catholic Church:

• The first occurred in 2019, when a Brazilian child was cured of a congenital disease by praying to Akutis;
• The second happened in 2022, when the mother of a girl who had a brain hemorrhage and was unable to survive prayed to Akutis. Shortly after, the girl began to breathe on her own again.

If Carlo Akutis is canonized, he will be the first person born in our technological age to be considered among the virtuous.
