Windows 11 is adding more and more ads and this has cost them strong criticism from users who don’t quite understand how it is possible that a paid operating system must resort to the use of advertising. The frustration is understandable, though luckily it’s possible to stop advertising in Windows 11 if we know where to tap.
The fact is, despite all the backlash Microsoft is getting for its excessive use of ads in Windows 11, as well as some of its apps, the company has no plans to stop. The giant recently announced a major redesign of the “Weather” app for the aforementioned operating system, and unfortunately, it was accompanied by a fair amount of advertising.
This new design has a style more typical of what we know as “Fluent Design”, and the truth is that it looks good and fits perfectly with Windows 11. Microsoft did a lot of things rightand created a simple and intuitive interface that allows us to change things as important as the temperature unit and dark mode with a few clicks.
Unfortunately, Microsoft has tarnished all that good work by resorting to advertising again. New application “Weather”. it shows ads on the right side that integrate too well with the app’s design, making them hidden and less experienced users may accidentally click on them.
No doubt, though It is no longer the future, it is also the present. It is clear that Microsoft will continue to bet on the use of advertisements in its operating system and in its main applications, and not only to promote its own services and software tools, but also to display third-party advertisements in the most classic style.
As I told you at the beginning of this article in Windows 11 we can remove all advertising in a fairly quick and easy way, but with apps it’s a different story. In these cases, we will have to jump through hoops or look for a new ad-free app that will allow us to replace the previous one.
You might think it’s not that big of a deal, but the truth is that the thing goes from brown to dark because today Windows 11 can display ads in a large number of sectionsincluding from file explorer to the lock screen, including the Start menu and other frequently used apps like OneDrive.
With all of this in mind, I think it’s logical that I thought of suggesting the option of a free Windows 11 with advertising, although in reality Microsoft doesn’t need it because can afford to charge for ad-laden Windows 11.
Microsoft has started rolling out a major update to its Weather app. Don’t worry, your favorite ads are still there! Even better, now you get even more! pic.twitter.com/lJtsFyDLSm
