The latest-generation Mercedes-AMG SL debuted in 2021. A teaser for the new model was released in 2022, and now carscoops spy photographers have caught a lightly camouflaged prototype testing in Europe.
The prototype shares most of its bodywork with the regular Mercedes-Benz SL, but its front end is closed. It should feature Maybach-specific details. Changes are expected to include bright radiator grilles, a Maybach logo badge on the bonnet and traditional Mercedes trim.
The prototype is equipped with two trapezoidal tailpipes, a hallmark of Maybach models. It is worth noting that the four-cylinder SL has four circular tailpipes, while the V8-powered models (including the flagship E Performance Hybrid) each have two tailpipes.
The most significant changes will take place in the cabin, where Maybach will offer more refined materials. Different colors will be offered to buyers. The prototype photographed had a red interior. The model is expected to inherit the most powerful versions of the Mercedes-AMG SL powertrains. The new product is expected to be released next year.
