Microsoft is discontinuing support for Office 365 connectors for Teams. Starting August 15, you will no longer be able to create new connectors, and starting October 1 of this year, the connectors will no longer work for all clouds.

Microsoft wants users to move to Power Automate workflows, where Redmond says they have a much larger catalog of connectors. In addition, these integrations are based on an architecture that can evolve in the future. In addition, Microsoft points out that connections via Power Automate are more secure.

Migrate manually

Microsoft explains in a blog post how to move from the old connectors to the new ones, but there is no real migration process provided. You just need to find a new connector that replaces the functionality of the old one and set it up.

Office 365 connectors for Microsoft Teams appeared in 2016. They allow Teams users to send updates from external services directly to a Teams channel. With automatic updates from GitHub or Trelle, for example, all members of a team theoretically stay better informed. So the functionality will not disappear, but the approach from eight years ago will be replaced by a new alternative.
