Today, the new BYD plant in Thailand was put into operation, and a total of 8 million BYD cars with new energy sources rolled off the assembly line. BYD officially entered the Thai market in 2022. BYD’s current share in Thailand’s new energy market has reached 41%. One in three cars sold is produced by BYD. From January 2023 to today, BYD has been Thailand’s new sales champion for 18 consecutive months.

From the start of production to the completion of construction of the Thailand plant, it took only 16 months (a record for the company). Plug-in hybrid models will also be introduced in Thailand in the future, allowing Chinese cars to dominate the market.

“BYD uses Thailand as a manufacturing hub for exports to ASEAN and many other countries,” said Narith Terdstirasukdi, secretary-general of the Investment Promotion Board of Thailand. He also noted that Thailand provides local cash subsidies and tax incentives, and expressed hope that BYD will continue to invest and establish technology research and development centers and regional hubs.
