A Labour advance would unseat the independents of the Scottish National Party (SNP) in Scotland, who won just 10 seats in this poll out of the 43 they held in the last legislature.
According to the figures released, the Green Party will win two seats in the House of Commons; four Welsh nationalists from Plaid Cymru and 19 would stand for other independents or even more minority groups.
If the results are confirmed, Starmer will become Britain’s prime minister on Friday. after 14 years of Conservative governmentwith a comfortable majority, which, however, will be slightly below Tony Blair’s historic majority in 1997, when the Labour Party won 418 seats.
Sunak will have to step down after his party’s worst ever result, although he may remain in office for some time to ensure an orderly succession.
