Apple is expected to release a series iPhone 16 in September of this year. However, rumors have already begun about the continuation of the series. It is said that Apple will abandon the “Plus” model for the “Slim”, starting with the series iPhone 17.

The ‘Slim’ model is expected to fill the gap between the non-Pro and Pro models

According to the report, Apple has made some “bold innovations” regarding the appearance of the iPhone 17 Slim. The model will reportedly be thinner and lighter than current models. Apple will use aluminum for the chassis. The camera island will reportedly be placed horizontally, reminiscent of the design of the Pixel 8 series, but Apple recently switched back to a vertical camera layout to support spatial video, and it’s unclear whether this feature will still work with a horizontal camera position.

The front of the device will feature a narrower dynamic island, likely thanks to the company’s adoption of more compact “metals” for the Face ID sensor. The iPhone 17 Slim’s design is reportedly similar to the iPhone X.

The “Slim” model will feature a 6.55-inch display on the front panel. It is expected to fill the gap between the non-Pro and Pro models. For comparison, the iPhone 15 Plus has a 6.7-inch display. It has also been revealed that the iPhone 17 Slim will also support a high refresh rate of 120Hz. It is noteworthy that this will be the first non-Pro iPhone model in history to support a high refresh rate. The base model of the iPhone 17 series may also have a 120Hz refresh rate.

While the models will be able to offer a higher refresh rate, they will be adaptive like the Pro models, meaning the phone will automatically adjust the refresh rate based on the content on the screen.
