Samsung contradicts Microsoft over Prism and warns of compatibility issues in Windows 11 ARM

Microsoft presented Prism as if this emulator was a “miracle” able to open a new era in the purest style of Rosetta 2, the solution with which Apple achieved the perfect transition from Intel x86-x64 processors to its own ARM-based SoC. Expectations were very high, but that’s clear In the end, they were not fulfilled.

I already talked about this topic in detail in my ASUS Vivobook S 15 review, where I told you that the performance of the Snapdragon X Elite with Windows 11 ARM and native apps was excellent, but that when running apps under emulation, the performance dropped noticeablyand this compatibility with many games and applications still remains much to improve.

It’s funny because Microsoft said it could be played on ARM thanks to Prism, but the results I got in my tests say otherwise. Of the seven games I tried, only two worked, one of them barely reached 30 FPS with low quality and such aggressive scaling that it started from 33% of total pixels, and the other was poor performance even at low quality and had serious graphical errors.

Samsung is not holding its fingers and Microsoft Prism is talking clearly

Windows 11 ARM compatibility of Microsoft Prism games

The South Korean company has unveiled its own commitment to ARM and Copilot+, the GalaxyBook Edge 4, an ultraportable that’s focused on mobility and efficiency, and which clearly doesn’t specialize in gaming. Given Microsoft’s optimism and to avoid legal problemsSamsung has shared official information which suggests that the said laptop is not compatible with many applications, security solutions and games.

Again, laptops from ASUS, Samsung, HP and other major players in the sector equipped with Snapdragon The problem that brought us to the point where it was necessary to clarify it was undoubtedly this over-optimism on the part of Microsoft, which caused a misunderstanding.

As I told you in the analysis of ASUS Vivobook S15, the first laptops with Snapdragon They are not a bad option. They offer interesting value in some aspects such as autonomy and mobility, were the first to implement second-generation AI, and work well with Windows 11 ARM and native apps.

We just have to be aware of these values, the user profile they are targeting and their own limitations so that we don’t create false expectations that lead us to expect things that are impossible in a team of this type. Microsoft obviously didn’t think about this and made a big mistake by overhyping Prism.
