American President, Joe Bidenannounced on Tuesday that USA, Germany, Netherlands, Romania and Italy will provide Ukraine with five air defense systems in the coming months, including four Patriots, fulfilling one of Kyiv’s main requests in recent months.

“Today I am announcing a historic gift of air defense assets to Ukraine. The United States, Germany, the Netherlands, Romania and Italy will provide Ukraine “Five additional strategic air defense systems in the coming months.” Biden said during an event in Washington dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Atlantic Alliance.

Biden used his speech to reflect on NATO’s role on its 75th anniversary, noting that the alliance is now at best after the annexation of Sweden and Finland and increased defence spending, with NATO estimating that 23 countries will exceed or meet their target of spending 2% of their GDP on defence this year.
