On July 10, The New York Times broke a major story alleging that Elon Musk has tasked SpaceX employees with developing a plan for a city on the Red Planet, while also seeking to provide his own genetic material for a future Mars colony.
Apparently inspired by Musk’s recent statement that SpaceX will colonize Mars, the journalists wrote the article, which refers to the many scattered and at different times assumptions about colonizing the Red Planet that the SpaceX CEO frequently shares during interviews.
“No one at SpaceX has been assigned to work on a Mars city. When people asked about this, my answer was that we should focus on getting there first,” Musk wrote in comments on the X social network. New York TimesHe also stated that he would not donate his sperm to a future Mars colony.
