Biden has mild Covid-19 symptoms

The visit came hours before the White House announced that Joe Biden had tested positive for Covid-19 and that he had mild symptoms, a normal breathing rate and no fever.

White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre said Biden developed respiratory symptoms this afternoon, including a runny nose, dry cough and “general malaise,” prompting him to test positive for Covid.

‘I feel good’: Biden

Biden later said he felt “good” after testing positive for Covid-19 during a trip to Las Vegas, where he was forced to cancel an appearance at the annual convention of the Latin American organization UnidosUS.

Biden arrived at the Las Vegas airport in his black presidential limousine, widely known as “The Beast.”

As he stepped out of the car, he gave one thumbs up in approval at the waiting journalists.

Asked by reporters how he was feeling, Biden replied:

Okay, and I feel good.

The president, who was not wearing a mask, then walked up the steps of Air Force One, where he will fly to his home in Delaware to remain in quarantine.

Biden opens door to exit presidential race for first time

Biden, who already fell ill with Covid-19 in July 2022 despite being vaccinated, said in an interview with the publication BET News that he would reconsider his decision to continue campaigning in the November election if a doctor diagnosed him with a serious medical problem.

The comments come amid repeated calls from within and outside his party for him to stop campaigning ahead of the November election, with influential Democratic lawmaker Adam Schiff publicly asking in a statement today to “pass the torch.” (Reuters and EFE)
