Google has improved the interoperability of Markdown support in Google Docs. Developers can now import and export Markdown documents.

In 2022, Google Docs received expanded support for Markdown, allowing developers to write Markdown documents in Google Docs. Now, Google is announcing a new feature that many developers have probably been waiting for. Google now lets you import and export Markdown documents in Google Docs. The feature is available now.

Google Docs has supported Markdown, a plaintext markup language, since 2022. Markdown is a popular markup language among developers because it is compiled in such a way that it can be easily converted to HTML and other formats using an application of the same name.

Developers can now collaborate on software documentation in Google Docs and then export it as Markdown for use in other Markdown support tools. In addition, it is also possible to convert Markdown into Docs content by simply pasting it or copying content from the document as Markdown.

The new Markdown feature in Google Docs will be rolled out gradually starting July 16. It may take up to fifteen days for the feature to appear.
