Chinese authorities confirmed this Saturday the death of at least 12 people and the disappearance of 31 more behind partial collapse of the bridge highway in central China, local media reported.
The collapse occurred on Friday evening in the city of Shangluo (Shaanxi Province) and resulted in 25 cars falling into the Jinqian River.which runs under the highway, the official Xinhua news agency reported.
The collapse of the structure was caused by a sharp rise in the river level.This was reported by provincial authorities.
Upon learning of the incident, Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for no efforts to be spared in rescue and relief efforts. to protect the lives and property of victims, as well as to provide assistance to the families of victims.
This Saturday morning Rescuers managed to lift five cars that fell into the water.While rescue efforts are ongoing, the exact number of crashed vehicles is unknown.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations, for its part, reported sending 736 specialists, 76 vehicles, 18 boats and 32 drones to support rescue efforts.
