Yemen’s recognised government says Israeli attack further worsens humanitarian crisis

Internationally recognized government of Yemen Yesterday’s Israeli attack on Yemen’s main port was condemned this Sunday. Al-Hodeida is controlled by pro-Iranian Houthi rebels because it would “further worsen the humanitarian crisis” in the impoverished Arab country.

In a statement, the government, based in the southern Yemeni city of Aden, condemned “in the strongest possible terms the aggression of the Zionist entity and the violation of the sovereignty of Yemeni lands, which is a clear violation of all international laws and norms.”

He believed that Israel, with this bombing, “bears responsibility for any consequences (…), including the worsening humanitarian crisis is aggravated by the Houthi terrorist actions against oil facilities and international shipping lines.”

He also warned that an Israeli attack, “would strengthen the position of these militias and their misleading propaganda narratives.”

At least Three people were killed and 87 were injured Israeli air strike on Al-Hodeidah in the Red Sea, from where the Shiite Houthi rebels carry out much of their activity against international shipping and Israel.

The Israeli bombing, which Yemeni sources said targeted oil facilities at a port and a power plant in the city of Al-Hodeidah, took place around 24 hours after Houthis attacked Tel Aviv with drone and will lead to the death of a person.

The recognized government’s statement warned Yemeni rebels: “do not continue to mortgage the fate of Yemen and its people and throw them into absurd battles to serve the interests of the Iranian regime and its expansionist project in the region.”

Yemen, which suffers the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, It is the site of a war that erupted in 2014, according to the UN, when the Houthis took up arms against Yemen’s internationally recognised government and controlled large swathes of the centre, north and west of the country.

Since November last year, Yemeni rebels have begun attacks using missiles, drones and unmanned ships against Israeli or Israeli-affiliated vessels in order to cause economic harm to the Jewish state in support of Palestine.
